Forming an Opportunity Belief

1.       With the increase in demand for technology, I believe there will be a plethora of new jobs in the IT and other related fields in the years to come. This gives the opportunity to many people to get these new jobs.

2.       The unmet need is the populations demand for the technology level. As technology keeps improving year after year, there is always a demand for it to keep being improved. This need has come from the whole population on Earth becoming more and more fixated on technology. It did not always used to be like this however, our ancient ancestors were able to live and prosper with practically no technology. However, in today’s day and age, technology is an integral part of society. To meet this need, R&D is always being conducted to try and make the next big breakthrough in technology. This can really take any form of technology. Based off of these elements, I am close to positive that this need exists.

3.       After talking to three different prototypical customers, my hypothesis seems to be pretty accurate. The questions I came up with to ask these customers are as follows: What is the nature for the need for technology? When do you experience this need for technology? How long have you experienced the need for technology? How are they currently satisfying this need? How satisfied are they with this solution?

4.       All three customers gave me very similar answers to these questions. They all claimed that almost everyone in the population has a profound need for technology. All of them use many different forms of technology, and they all claim it plays an important role in their everyday lives. Also, they all experience the need for technology on a daily basis, in many different forms. For example, one of my customers uses technology solely for his job, and the other two both use technology to some extent at their jobs. Since all three of my customers were middle aged, all of them have experienced this need for technology for pretty much their whole lives. However, since the dotcom bubble, their need for technology has definitely skyrocketed. They seemed to become aware of this need through the advancement of technology through society. In order to stay up to date with society, you must also stay up to date with technology. To satisfy this need, all three of my customers own items such as smartphones, televisions, computers, social media, car technology, etc. Two were satisfied with technology at this moment, while the third said he wished he could see a big improvement within the next 10-15 years.

5.       This really made me learn just hoe big of a value people place on technology. It seems like an obvious statement, but you really do not realize it until you start talking to people about it.  The most surprising thing I learned about this opportunity is that within the coming years, there will be such a high demand for this sector, that the amount of jobs available will be crazy high. This will open the door for many people to receive these new jobs.

6.       I believe a very high part of my opportunity is still there, especially after talking with my three customers. If anything, I do believe my opportunity is more accurate than when I started. I think entrepreneurs should adapt to what their customers want and demand. In the end, consumer demand is what will fuel profits and lead to being a successful business.
